The Evergreen Park Fire Department takes a very aggressive and proactive approach to fire safety education. The following programs are offered with a staff of twelve instructors:

Learn Not To Burn:  Pre-School Programs

The Evergreen Park Fire Department instructs the NFPA Learn Not To Burn program to the following pre-schools annually:
Evergreen Park Community Center
Queen of Martyrs
Early Childhood at Central Junior High
Immanuel Church
Saint Bernadette
Holy Redeemer

 

Learn Not To Burn: Kindergarten Programs

The Evergreen Park Fire Department instructs the NFPA Learn Not To Burn program to the following kindergarten schools annually:
Southeast School
Southwest School
Northeast School
Northwest School
Saint Bernadette School
Holy Redeemer School
Queen of Martyrs School

 

 

Learn Not To Burn:  Third Grade Programs

The Evergreen Park Fire Department instructs the NFPA Learn Not To Burn program to the following third grade schools annually:
Saint Bernadette School
Queen of Martyrs School
Holy Redeemer School
Northwest School
Northeast School
Southwest School

Learn Not To Burn:  Annual Third Grade Safety Course

The Evergreen Park Fire Department hosts the Annual Third Grade Fire Safety Activity Course every March. During this course, the children demonstrate fire safety disciplines that they learn in the Learn Not To Burn program. The course is a timed event, per classroom and individuals. Prizes are awarded to participants. All third grade children from the schools participating in the Learn Not To Burn program are invited to participate in the course.

 

 

 

Community CPR Training

 

Community CPR Training is offered monthly at the Evergreen Park Fire Department, 9000 S. Kedzie.  We offer CPR certification in "Friends & Family", "Heart Saver - CPR", "Heart Saver - CPR/AED" and "Health Care Provider".

There is no charge to Village residents and businesses (proof of residency required).  Non-residents are charged $25.00 per person to cover the cost of materials.  Classes are limited to a maximum of 10. If enrollment is fewer than 4, the class will be cancelled.

Fire Extinguisher Training

Children's Fire Safety Trailer

The Fire Safety Trailer is taken to all schools in the Village during the month of October. Children from pre-school through fourth grade participate in kitchen safety, calling 9-1-1, Stop, Drop, and Roll and fire exit-planning activities during this program. The Fire Safety Trailer is also available for block parties. During the summer of 2000, the trailer attended over 160 block parties. For additional information on block parties, call (708)422-2148. Block parties are on a limited basis.
