The Consolidated election is Tuesday, April 17, 2007.  Polling places are open from 6:00 am until 7:00 pm.  If you are unsure of where your polling place is in Evergreen Park, please call my office at 708-422-1551.  Voter registration closes approximately one month prior to an election and re-opens three days after the election. Voter Registration is available for new residents and anyone turning 18 years of age by the next election.  Two pieces of identification are required:

  1. A picture I.D.

  2. An I.D. or piece of mail showing the current Village address. In–person absentee voting is available approximately three weeks prior to each election at the Clerk’s office.

Vehicle Stickers are on sale from May 1st and must be displayed by June 30th of each year. A 50% penalty is applicable if purchased after June 30th. Cost $25.00 for an automobile: sliding fee scale for commercial vehicles, based upon weight. Senior citizens 65 years of age and older, receive a 60% discount (Senior Stickers $10.00) Must have proof of current vehicle registration and license to Evergreen address to obtain a sticker.

Garage Sales are allowed by permit and are available at the Village Hall for $5.00 fee. A $20.00 cash compliance bond is also required. Money is refunded after the sale, if all rules have been complied with per Village ordinance.

Animal Licenses are required for domestic dogs and cats kept within the Village limits. All pets must be registered. Animal tags may be purchased for a fee of $5.00 and are renewable annually on May 1st.

Proof of current rabies inoculation must be presented at the time of purchase. It is unlawful to allow dogs and cats to run loose. A maximum of three dogs and/or cats is allowed.

Animal control services are available by calling the Village Hall during business hours (708)422-1551 and the non-emergency police after hours (708)422-2142.

Temporary Handicap Placards are available through the clerk’s office. You must bring a letter from a doctor describing your incapacity. Applications for temporary placards are available during business hours, temporary permits are valid for a period of not longer than ninety (90) days. Permanent handicapped cards must be issued through the Secretary of State’s Office.

Business Licenses are required for all businesses and professions located in Evergreen Park.  Anyone interested in obtaining a business license must first make an appointment with the Mayor's Office, (708)422-1551.  Business license approval is put on the agenda and  voted on by the Board of Trustees at Village Board meetings. Village Board  meetings are held the first and third Monday of each month at 7:30 PM in the Council Chambers, 2nd floor of the Village Hall, 9418 S. Kedzie.

Transfer Tax and Building Inspection are required prior to finalizing a real estate sales transaction, all properties must be inspected for compliance with building codes.  An appointment for the inspection may be made by calling the Building Department (708)229-3333, (it is recommended that you call at least two weeks in advance).  Inspections are valid for a period of ninety days, if the sale is not completed, a re-inspection is required. Additionally, a transfer tax of $5.00 per thousand and a $50.00 compliance certificate and an inspection fee is due upon the sale of real estate in the village and paid at the Village Hall.
