Animal Licenses

Village Code Sec 4-3 requires that all cats and dogs be licensed; bring Rabies certificate with you to City Hall and fill in application for license which expires each year on May 31. All animals must be kept on your own property or on a leash (Sec 4-5 Municipal code).

Abandoned Vehicles

The Village ordinance states that any vehicle on public and private property will be considered abandoned if it is in a state of disrepair making it incapable of being operated, and if it has not been moved for a period of seven (7) or more days. If it does not have a current Illinois or other state license plate and has not be moved for seven (7) days, it is considered abandoned. If it is parked on any public right-of-way and has not been moved for a period of seven (7) or more days, the car is also considered abandoned. Abandoned vehicles should be reported by calling the Village Hall (708)422-1551.

Garbage/Yardwaste Containers

Each homeowner has been given a 96 or 65 gallon blue garbage container and a 96 gallon green yardwaste container for use at no charge.

The blue container is for household garbage only.  Do not place building materials, yardwaste, large boxes, or branches in the container.

The 96 gallon blue container is equivalent to three 33 gallon containers. A 65 gallon container is available for smaller households. Should a resident require a second container, please call Land & Lakes directly at (708)720-5100. The additional container is at a cost of $3 per container per month.

The green container is for yardwaste only. Only grass clippings, small plants, and small branches should be put in the container. Please do not place dirt, sod, rocks, landscaping timbers, or household garbage in the container.

Items such as landscaping timber and rock, construction debris, sod, dirt, railroad ties, and boulders are too large for a normal garbage pickup must be phoned in to Land & Lakes for a special pickup. There will be a nominal charge for these items.

Garbage Pickup

Pickup days are by quadrant, the schedule follows:

  • Southeast Quadrant - Monday

  • Northwest Quadrant - Tuesday

  • Northeast Quadrant - Wednesday

  • Southwest Quadrant - Thursday

If you have curbside pickup: Garbage and refuse containers are to be put out at the curb not earlier than 6 p.m. the day preceding collection day, and  remove empty containers to their normal place of storage by 8 p.m. the day of collection.

If you have alley pickup: the same holds true except that you should leave your garbage container in the alley and place the compost and recycling at the curb.  Please do not dump debris in alleys or other areas. Our refuse collector makes pickups once each week and will take all refuse except building materials; to arrange for building materials pickup, call Land and Lakes Scavenger Service at (708)720-5100.

The Village will pickup brush and tree debris when placed at the curb on your regularly scheduled garbage day. Brush pickup is limited to large tree branches, shrubs, and bushes that will not fit in the regular yard waste container. A fee may be charged for any excessive amounts of debris removed. During the months of May and September, the village provides free brush pickup. This does not include whole trees removed by residents.

Household Help?

If you have a small job but are physically unable to cut your grass, clean your yard or maintain your property, contact the Evergreen Park Youth Dept. at (708)229-3377. For a fee they will send teens over to help with your workload.

Recycling

There are two ways a resident can get recycling bags: one way is to add the orange sticker that is included in the roll on the last bag; or stop at the Village Hall and pickup a roll. Visit the recycling page for more information on the Recycling Program.

Snow Removal

All vehicles should be parked on the even side of the street on even days and odd side on odd days.  If unsure, use house numbers to determine even/odd side.  It’s unlawful to park in a snow route.

Solicitation

The Village of Evergreen Park has adopted an anti-solicitation ordinance designed to protect residents from unscrupulous solicitations. For more information regarding this ordinance, please call the Village Hall at (708)422-1551.

Street Sweeping

Street sweeping is done weekly. Please obey the “No Park, Street Sweeping” signs, when posted.

Vehicle Stickers

Vehicle stickers must be purchased for each vehicle upon residence in the Village and expire June 30th of each year.
