The Village Pantry Coalition Inc. is a Non-Profit 501c3 Tax Exempt Organization serving Evergreen Park. HISTORY The Village Pantry Coalition was established by a coalition of Churches, Representatives of Village Administration, Community Organizations and Evergreen Park residents to HELP Evergreen Park residents who may find themselves needing temporary food assistance in an emergency situation caused by unemployment, illness, fire, etc. Since opening in September, 1981, the Village Pantry has served over 5,500 families, distributing food valued in excess of $620,000. CONTRIBUTIONS Contributions are received from many sources within the Village; schools, senior clubs, businesses, churches, and private individuals. The Pantry's primary source of food donations is through local food drives. Additional food items are purchased through the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Cash contributions are welcome at any time throughout the year. Those wishing to make cash contributions should make checks payable to the Village Pantry Coalition, and mail in care of Hamilton B. Maher Community Center 3450 W. 97th Street Evergreen Park, IL 60805 CONFIDENTIALITY Please be assured that there is complete confidentiality of all individuals who use the Village Pantry. LOCATION The Village Pantry is located in the former Howatt Fire Station at 98th Place and Washtenaw. HOURS OF OPERATION The Village Pantry is staffed by senior volunteers. Hours for food pick-up are Friday 10:00am to Noon; then from 2pm - 4pm. WHO IS ELIGIBLE The Village Pantry is intended to serve the residents of Evergreen Park. Those in need may visit the Pantry during hours of operation. If further or immediate assistance is needed, please contact your local church, Village Official, or Office of Citizens Services. Depending on family size and food available, a Pantry Volunteer will distribute enough food for at least one week, possibly more. This is a temporary relief agency. No one is turned away.
