Jolene Churak, Director Acts as a liaison to Village administration, respond to the needs of all residents, organize programs to promote a healthy mind and body, help older adults build a bright futurre for themselves and thier community by enabling them to live independently with dignity. "There are no strangers here, only friends we have not met"... Why not give OCS Programs a try? About OCS OCS operates with a full time department director and assistant, two part-time secretaries (job share), two part time mini-bus drivers, two meals-on-wheels drivers, and office vounteers. The department strives to grow with the constant change in technology and maintain curent information on Federal, State, and Local programs. Professional affiliations include: National Council on Aging(NCOA), National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) National Organization of Disab;ed(NOD), and American Association of Retired People)AARP). OCS is also a member of the Illinois Association of Senior Centers, Palos, Lemont ,Orland, and Worth Township(PLOWS), south Suburban Area Agency on Aging(SSAAA), and Evergreen Park Chamber of Commerce. These affiliations benefit all village residents who, at one time or another, require assistance, information and referral. OCS continues to work with the Senior Citizens' council to advocate for seniors and maintain the Senior Citizen Drop-in Center (Rm 112). The Senor Citizen's Council was formed to act as an advisory group. To this day, the members continue to remain active. The Council meets at 9547 S. Homan Ave on the third Thursday of the month at 11:30am . Informative programs and lunch follow the business meeting. All residents are welcome! |
