MOM OR DAD MORNING OUT
Want to go shopping for a few hours without the kids, or just have a few hours to yourself? Drop your child/children off at the Recreation Department's nursery. Fee is based on 1-hour increments.
FEE: $5 per hour, 1 child $7.50 per hour, 2 children
Days and Times available: M-W-F, 9am - Noon
Location: Community Center, 3450 W. 97th Street
The Recreation Department offers programs for children three months old and up. The programs are listed in booklets that are mailed out to residents twice a year. Additional programs are advertised through fliers that are sent out to the schools in the village or listed on our cable station, channel Four. Some of the programs include pre-school for ages 3 to 5, arts and crafts, basketball, computer tots, CPR, French braiding, general gym, Irish dancing, line dancing, martial arts, preschool gym, soccer, square dancing, tap, and ballet just to name a few.
The Recreation Department also provides the following events:
- Concerts in the park
- Day in the park
- Easter egg hunts
- Fourth of July parade
- Halloween parades
- Ice skating lessons at the new ice rink at 9000 South Kedzie
- Pass punt and kick contests
- Santa Claus visits the beginning of December through Christmas Eve
- Summer Day Camps for more than 300 children
- Special trips to see “big name” entertainment
- Strength Training Classes and
- Track and field meets
- White Sox games and the Star Plaza
- Yoga Classes
